August 2, 2004 - 2245 hours - Structure Fire
 

Station 27 was dispatched to a structure fire on Auburn Ave. N.C. 911 reported the caller stated the fire was in the basement. The first Palmer P.D. unit on location requested the F.D. to expedite.

When 2711 turned onto Auburn Ave. from Brentwood Ave. they reported smoke in the area and requested a line be layed from the hydrant on the corner. 2713 layed 900 feet of 5” LDH to feed 2711. When the crew from 2711 entered the basement they reported to Command (Chief Pursel), that they had heavy smoke and 0 visibility.

A Thermal camera was used to locate the source of the fire. The cause of the fire was a malfunction of a 20” electric fan.

22 Volunteers using 7 pieces of equipment had the fire under control in 15 minutes.
