National Plastic FireThe following is a report of the number of fire departments, agencies, and special equipment that was on location at National Plastics Co., Inc., 11 McFadden Road, Palmer Township on Friday, July 15, 2011.  Dispatch time was 1052 hours; scene was cleared at 1946 hours.

There were a total of 25 fire departments on location or covering the township during the fire.  There were a total of 53 fire department emergency vehicles on scene. 

This incident was handled by four counties – Northampton, Lehigh, Bucks and Montgomery.

Lehigh Valley International Airport – Rescue 1

A total of 11 tankers were used to shuttle water to the fire scene.  We were notified that the water tank was very close to empty.  These tankers were filled with water from the Bushkill Creek at Bushkill Drive and Newlins Mill Road.

Palmer Township Police Department provided traffic control, scene security, and assisted with the investigation.

Lehigh Valley International Airport sent one airport rescue unit that carries class B foam to assist with extinguishing the fire.

Suburban EMS was assigned the rehab sector for all personnel on location.

Palmer Township Public Works transported fuel to the scene for the fire equipment.

Northampton County Emergency Management was on location to assist with any unmet needs.

North Penn Goodwill provided food and bathroom facilities to all personnel on location

Other emergency services on location –

GPU – terminated power to the building
UGI – terminated natural gas service to the building
Lehigh County Special Ops Team –monitored hazardous material and run-ff
Department of Environmental Protection – monitored air and water run-off
PA Sate Police – controlled traffic on Rt. 33 and assisted with fire investigation
PA American Water – water supply
Easton Suburban Water Authority – water supply
Bethlehem Township Emergency Management – offered (2) fuel tankers if needed
Forks Township Fire Police – assisted with traffic control
City of Bethlehem was on standby, in station, for Bethlehem Township

F20 (City of Easton) and F24 (Wilson Borough) responded to a motor vehicle fire call on Mine Lane Road during the McFadden Road fire.  (1403 hrs.)
