Station 27 was dispatched for a working dwelling fire at 3525 Southwood Dr. Capt. A. Carr was the first fire unit on location (in 6 mins.) confirming flames through the roof of a large 2 ½ story dwelling. All occupants were out of the building per Palmer P.D. on location.
Capt. Carr established 27 Command and requested Station 23 (W. Easton) and Station 53 (L. Nazareth). 53 was assigned to R.I.T.
(2) 1 ¾ “ preconnects were advanced to the second floor, and a third to side C. Division 2 reported to Command that they had light smoke with no fire. Flames were still visible through the roof. After pulling a section of ceiling in the bedroom, it was learned there were two roofs on the addition section of the dwelling The entire ceiling had to be pulled in the bedroom to check for extension. Extensive overhaul had to be done on the second floor.
A total of 7 fire departments with 52 fire fighters were on location. Station 50 (Nazareth) was on stand by in station 27-1. Hanover Township (Station 15) was on stand by in station 27-2.
The fire is under investigation by Palmer P.D. and P.S.P.
