December 2, 2003 - 1556 hours - Dwelling Fire on Nazareth Road
 

N.C. 911 alerted Station 27 to a structure fire, smoke showing at 2645 Nazareth Rd. #2751 (Chief T. Pursel) and #2753 (A/C/ D.A. Grube) were on location in three minutes. #2751 took command reporting light smoke on side D. Upon the arrival of #2711 (three minutes later) heavy smoke was pushing from side C.

Once the first 1 ¾ “ preconnect was charged, forcible entry was made through a door on side C to the basement for an interior attach. This operation was quickly deemed impossible. A large amount of construction material and tools were stored in the stairway to the cellar. A second crew forced entry through a door on side D while the stairwell was being cleared.

A call for mutual aide from Station 23 (W. Easton) was transmitted. Shortly there after Station 53 (Hecktown) was called to the scene after Command reported heavy fire showing. Station 50 (Nazareth) was moved up to cover Station 27-1 and Station 14 (Nancy Run)
was moved to Station 27-2.

With conditions getting worse, Command moved #14 to the scene for R.I.T. Station 17 (Bethlem Twsp.) was dispatched to respond to Station 27-2. The hydrant line was layed by #2712 from inside the Lawnhurst development, through the backyards to Nazareth Rd.
#2721’s crew cut the vent hole in the roof. Command reported the fire under control at 1701 hrs. At 1756 the fire was declared out. All mutual aide departments were released by 1950 hrs. All 27 units were cleared from the scene at 2010 hrs.

A total of 9 pieces of equipment and 45 firefighters were at the scene.
