September 2, 2004 - 1804 hours - Dwelling Fire So. Nulton Ave.
 

At 1804 hrs. Station 27 was dispatched to a dwelling fire at 423 So. Nulton Ave. Chief T. Pursel (2751) was on location in three minutes.

Command reported a working dwelling fire. He also requested a full response from Station 14 and 23.

The crew from 2721 advanced two 1 ¾ “ preconnects into the dwelling making for a quick knock down on the fire. The ladder was put into service to get two fire fighters to the roof to ventilate. One 5” LDH line was layed from a hydrant about three hundred feet away. Another LDH line (4”) was layed from about four hundred feet away as a back-up.

One female victim was found in the back yard suffering from smoke inhalation. One male victim had to jump from the second story window after attempting to fight the fire and becoming trapped by the heat and flames. Both were transported to a local hospital by Suburban EMS.

Station 28 was on stand by in Fire Station II and Station 53 was in Fire Station I. All units were released by 2130 hrs.

Station 27 and 14 returned to the scene for a re-kindle at 0200 hrs. the next morning.

The fire is under investigation by the PA State Police, Insurance Co., and Palmer P.D.
