#27 was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with roll-over, involving
a tractor trailer, on Route 33 North Bound. Because there
was not enough information from phone callers, there was some confusion
as to the exact location. The accident ended up being in the
backyard of a house on Babbling Brook, which is just south of Stockertown.
#2753 was the first fire unit on scene. Command was established
as A/C Grube walked about 100 yards through backyards and heavy
brush. Command was transferred to #2751 upon his arrival.
The tractor was located lying on the passenger side, about 100 yards
off Route 33. The truck was carrying 50,000 pounds of toilets.
The driver and a passenger were out of the vehicle when first units
arrived. Only the driver was injured (a cut on his hand).
A large dog was also riding in the truck but ran away after the
crash. The dog was found by neighbors, uninjured. With
no hazards and minor injuries, the Fire Department was released
after one hour. Large equipment was brought in the next day
to remove the tractor trailer.
