Station
#27 was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with roll-over on
Rt. 33 North bound, unknown exact location, involving a cement truck.
Unknown to Station #27, Stations #51 and #25 had been dispatched
to the same accident 10 minutes sooner. Station #51 did not locate
any accident while traveling south bound on Rt. 33. After turning
around at Rt. 248 and heading north, the accident was located just
south of the Nazareth/Tatamy Road overpass in Palmer Township. The
vehicle was a cement mixer.
The first arriving officer from Station #27 was #2753. Station #25
was already working on patient assessment, with Station #51 doing
fire protection. Med-Evac was on stand-by.
Upon #2741’s arrival, #2753 transferred command to #2752 because
N.C. 911 had dispatched #27 to a possible structure fire with smoke
showing at 3629 Nazareth Road (Crossing Coin Laundry). Units #2711
and #2712 were diverted to the structure fire.
#7151 took rescue command with assistance from other stations on
location. Med-Evac was cancelled because of a class 5 victim with
an extended extrication time table. Heavy equipment was also brought
to the scene to assist
All units operated for approximately 5 hours until extrication was
complete.
