At 1247 HRS. Station 27 was dispatched to a dwelling fire on Pine Grove Drive. A/C A. Carr (2752) received a call via Nextel from a person on location reporting smoke coming from the roof.
There was no question of the location of the fire for responding units; a heavy smoke condition was in the entire area. 2757 (Lt. K. McPherson) arrived first and took 27 Command. After his 360 the Lieutenant confirmed all updates and reported heavy smoke and fire at Division 1 extending at Division 2 and the attic.
The first attack line was taken through the front door toward the “C” side of the dwelling. A second preconnect was stretched to Division 2., “C” side. The fire was placed under control at 1347 HRS. by Command A/C Carr. An extensive overhaul operation was started. The attic and basement was checked for extension. The fire was declared out at 1737 HRS. All mutual aid units were released at that time.
The Red Cross was contacted for the family and P.S.P. was contacted for the fire marshal. Suburban EMS was on location for rehab. The fire is under investigation by the home owner’s insurance company and P.S.P.
