Station 27 was alerted of a motor vehicle accident on Rt. 33, north bound at mile marker 7.6. Station 53
(Hecktown Volunteer Fire Co. #1) was dispatched first to the call because initial reports were for a tractor trailer vs. passenger vehicle, head on, with the tractor trailer rolled over in the area of the Hecktown entrance onto northbound Rt. 33.
Chief Jeff Seip (5351) traveled Rt. 33, north bound, from the Hecktown Rd. area and found nothing. As he continued north the traffic came to a stand still forcing him to continue using the shoulder lane into Palmer Township. At that point Chief Seip requested Station 27. 2713 responded with a crew of 6. Command (5351) instructed 2713 to park in the area of the passenger vehicle and 5341 to continue north and park in the area of the box truck. The driver and passenger of the truck were self extricated. The lone victim in the vehicle was deceased.
P.S.P. was on location and the Coroner was notified. Rt. 33 (northbound) was totally shut down at Rt. 248 for the duration of the incident.
Stations 23 and 25 were on stand by in their stations to handle all calls in the township. Fire units were back in service at 2145 HRS.
