November 16, 2007 - 1531 hours - High Occupancy Dwelling Fire
 

Station #27 was dispatched for a high occupancy fire at 503-505 Kingwood St. at 1531 HRS. This structure is a six unit apartment building.  Lt. C. Miller was on location within four minutes of dispatch and had Command.
 
Command updated incoming units for smoke and flames showing from a basement window. #2311 on location first (Auto dispatch) advanced a 1 ¾ “ preconnect into the basement. Outside vent was completed as the interior crew advanced into the bedroom. A 5” LDH supply line was laid by #2713 from a hydrant on Kingwood Ave.

All apartments were checked for extension. As this was being completed #2754 (Capt. A. Carr) reported heavy smoke showing from the front door. A second 1 ¾ “ line was taken through the front door to the rear bedroom. The basement division was evacuated. The fire was reported under at 1711 HRS.

The following units were operating on location-#1412, #1413, #1421, #1441, #1711, #1741, #2311, #2312, #2412, #2512, #2713, #2742, #2743, #2744 and #5341 had the R.I.T assignment. Station #50 (Nazareth) had #5011. #5021, and #5042 on stand by in Station #27-1. Wm. Twsp. (Station #28) had #2812 on stand by in Station #27-2 Covering #14, #17, and #27.

A total of 48 firefighters were on scene.
