| A severe storm with lightning, heavy rain and high winds had passed through part of our area earlier. After cleaning up from an earlier structure fire Station #27 was dispatched to an automatic alarm at 892 Sheridan Drive. #2721 responded along with Engine #2312 (#2312 was on stand by in station 27-2).
After #27 double checked the malfunction of the alarm Stations #14 and #17 were dispatched to 2331 Esquire Drive for a possible dwelling fire, dwelling struck by lightning.
#2312 was dispatched for R.I.T. #2721 responded because on the closeness of the call and a report of smoke showing. #2312 went in service because they were the first unit on location. #1451 took Command and requested #2713 to fill the R.I.T. assignment. #2713 responded with a crew of 5.
Once the fire was declared under control the crew from #2713 went to work assisting with overhaul.
A total of 10 calls were handled by Station #27 during and after the storm passed through. Trees down on dwellings, trees down on wires, and traffic assistance for Penn-Dot on Rt. #22 were just a few of the types of calls that were investigated.
All P.M.F.D. units cleared the Bethlehem Township call at 2033 hrs.
