| The Palmer Municipal Fire Department held it's annual banquet on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at the Eastonian at the Holiday Inn Express in Palmer Township. Special guests at this year's banquet were the recipients of the fire department scholarships. The recipients were as follows:
The K "Eddie" Grube Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Daniel Newhard of Palmer Township. Daniel is the grandson of Dave Tobias. Daniel graduated from Easton Area High School and will be attending the University of Vermont majoring in Zoology.
The George B. Knowlson, Jr. Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Christine Lieberman of Palmer Township. Christine is the daughter of Barry Lieberman. Christine also graduated from Easton Area High School and will be attending East Stroudsburg University majoring in Elementary Education.
A third scholarship was presented to Reilly Costigan-Humes from Parkland High School. Reilly is the son of Mike Humes. Reilly graduated from Parkland High School and will be attending Haverford College majoring in Economics or Mathematics.
Another highlight of the evening was a special recognition of four members for their over and above years of service to the department or the emergency services. In the year 2006, Harry Horton has accumulated 46 years of service; George Short will celebrate 38 years; Thomas Condosta will have 36 years; and, Richard Rau will have 32 years.
